FIA AGM:

The FIA Annual General Meeting will be held this year at 11:30 on Tuesday 4th December at The Manor House, High St, Buntingford, SG9 9AB.  The FIA council also welcomes applications from industry professionals that have commitment, time, energy and that are interested in becoming an FIA Director to help in upholding and building upon the aims and principles of the FIA in service of our members. Paperwork, Agenda and nomination forms will be sent to all members early in November. If there are any questions please contact the secretary directly.


CPR clarity

Due to its close participation in the creation of standards in the UK and Europe, the FIA’s standards representative, Mike Gilmore has regularly provided its membership with the most detailed and timely advice on the technical aspects of CPR and the implications of its contractual and commercial application in the UK Telecommunications cabling market. All documentation has been available and has been updated whenever any significant change has taken place.

White paper and Technical Support Document updates

The FIA has recently updated and released several important documents of significance :-

  • A further clarification regarding fire performance requirements of BS 7671 and BS 6701 here
  • New optical fibre designations for 2019 here
  • Fire resistance and circuit integrity cable explanation here
  • An updated Technical Support Document on External installations, BS EN 50174-3 and UK regulations here

FIA Summer Seminar 2019 – not to be missed!

Stolen Equipment Register

We have recently reinstated the Stolen Equipment register. We aim to publish the details of stolen equipment in order to assist members in recovering their equipment should the worst happen.

The register can be found here. It can also be found on the homepage.

Details required in order to report stolen equipment include the date stolen, Serial number of all items, full description and most importantly, the crime record number. There are links to allow you to report stolen equipment, and also to report that you have been offered stolen equipment.
