The FIA have worked with the JIB* to develop a fibre optics related endorsement under the ECS**. If you do not already have a CSCS-based card and feel that you have appropriate experience please consider accreditation as a "Optical Fibre Datacomms Specilaist".

Scope

Installation of optical fibre, balanced,
coaxial and other cables commonly
used in structured/generic cabling
systems
Installation of all necessary cable tray,
ladder rack, trunking and conduit as
well as any associated connection
units
Installation of cable management
systems and transmission equipment
within cabinets, racks etc
Jointing, termination, testing and fault
finding on optical fibre cables
Installation of earthing and bonding
cables
